2004 - Matousek Family Lifetime Achievement Award

Danny Matousek was involved in Music in one way or another most of his life. He was a member of the Velaires who were inducted into the Iowa RockNRoll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Danny passed away in the Spring of 1998 just prior to a scheduled performance with other IRRHOF Bands at Swisher Iowa.

The loss of Danny has left a big void in Rock and Roll History in Iowa.

This Award is presented to those persons that have displayed, during their lifetime the same dedication the same spirit, the same professionalism and made a lasting contribution to Iowa Rock and Roll Music, as did Danny Matousek.

Dave Napier has played with many bands in the Sioux City Iowa Area including the Seven Sons and The Velaires. He also spent several years working in the Music Field in the Chicago Area. He now plays with a Dixieland group, the Dixie Daddies. He has appeared at IRRHOF events several times performing with The Velaires, Flames and others. He is a very accomplished Musician who has the ability to pick up almost any Instrument and play it. He also is a singer and has added great background vocals on many recordings.


The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame & Museum exists to preserve the legacy of rock and roll music in Iowa by honoring achievements, educating youth and inspiring artists. Established in 1997, we are a501(c)(3) non-profit statewide organization with many areas of service.
