RULES AND INFORMATION FOR IOWA ROCK N ROLL MUSIC ASSOCIATION BILL RILEY TALENT SEARCH
This contest is open to all amateur entertainers and is in compliance with the guidelines and requirements needed to qualify for competition in the preliminary round of the Bill Riley Talent Show at the Iowa State Fair August 7-17, 2014.
The Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association competition will be judged on quality of performance (appropriate for performer/venue/audience), showmanship (use of stage, eye contact, etc.), and entertainment value (was the audience entertained). Each category will be rated from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, for each performance. Three qualified judges have been secured to determine the winners. The persons or acts assembling the most points in each the Sprout Division (2 to 12) or Senior Division (13 to 21), will be selected as the first place winners and qualify for the Bill Riley Talent show, should they choose to compete.
The time limit is three minutes of which points will be deducted for contestants going overtime. Contestants must secure their own accompanist and instruments or provide a CD. Absolutely no backuprecorded vocals are allowed. This would lead to an immediate disqualification.
This amateur contest will be held at the Lauridsen Performing Arts Theatre at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji, Iowa, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on February 9, Sunday. Theatre seating is open to the public at the fee of $10.00 per adult, children 12 & under free.
Entries will be taken until January 31, 2014 or until divisions are full.
