Greg Miksich is a resident of West Des Moines, Iowa. He began his musical career in 1965 as a "wanna be" drummer. After a short time he changed gears and began playing guitar in a neighborhood garage band and continued playing throughout his high school years. He enjoyed singing in the Dowling and Valley high school glee clubs. Greg also performed at the Des Moines Community Playhouse and was active in musical productions at Drake University.
Professionally, he had a career in real estate and was an IT Systems Engineer for CenturyLink. Greg had so much fun playing in a band in the early years, that when his Dowling classmates reunited the Echo's V, he jumped at the chance to join them. He has been with the band now for 30 years and they are still going strong.
The Echo's V offer great harmonies and classic songs from artists such as the Beatles, The Beach boys, and The Hollies. They have opened for the Lovin' Spoonful, Johnny Rivers, The Buckinghams, Gary Lewis and the Playboys and Paul Revere and the Raiders. As a member of the Echo's V, Greg was Inducted into the Iowa Rock & Roll Music Association Hall of Fame in 1998.
Greg is a volunteer Central Iowa Regional Consultant for IRRMA, assisting IRRMA Staff and Central Iowa members of the Board of Directors. He has a special interest in working on the battle of the bands competitions for up-and-coming young artists. One of his favorite songs pretty much sums up how he feels about his family, his band-mates and the role of music in his life, "Some Kind of Wonderful!
