November 35th

2015 - Spirit Award

Band Members:  Evan Kaler, Jacen Kaler, Anna Taylor, Jack Osborn, Max Miller

The band November 35th was formed in June of 2011 by brothers Evan and Jacen Kaler and Anna Taylor (ages 14, 11 and 13).

The first song they learned was Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee.” It was Taylor’s performance of that song at a middle school talent show that prompted the boys to invite her to be the voice of the band. Their love of classic rock and roll was and continues to be the driving force behind their song choices.

Their first appearance was at the 2011 Pioneer Valley Days in Sergeant Bluff. Their performance was six songs in length. Later that summer they were invited to perform at the IRRMA Hall of Fame Induction Weekend FanFare in Arnolds Park; an event they considered quite an honor.

Since then they have performed in Sioux City at The Chesterfield, The Throttle, Saturday in the Park and Awesome Biker Nights. They opened for Roadhouse at Rock the Roof in Arnolds Park. November 35th won Western Iowa Tech’s WITSTOCK Battle of the Bands.

The band has played in places like Homer, Neb., and Beresford, S.D. as well as at Race for Hope, Siouxland’s FoodStock and Aggie’s Red Hot Poker Run.

February of 2013 brought the release of their first CD titled “The Day Has Come” featuring eight original and three cover songs. Jack Osborn and Max Miller joined November 35th in the fall of 2013.

“Out of the Box”, their second CD, included seven original tunes and came out in November of 2014.  That year the band performed at the GladFest Blues Festival in Gladstone, Mo. They opened for fellow ‘Voice’ competitor Kat Perkins at the Loud American Roadhouse in Sturgis, SD. They played for the Hard Rock Casino Backyard BBQ in Sioux City as well.

Anna Taylor had the incredible experience of competing in NBC’s ‘The Voice” Season Six. She met some amazing people and learned much from various professionals in the music industry.

Evan, Anna, Jacen, Jack and Max continue to perform and bring classic rock and roll music to a new generation of music lovers. They epitomize the “Spirit” of keeping the music alive and are very deserving recipients of a 2015 IRRMA Spirit Award.

Honoring achievements, educating youth, and inspiring artists.
