Duane "Nudie" Binder
2018 - Individual Artist
Duane “Nudie” Binder’s career began in the 5th grade playing drums. He is grateful his parents put up with all the racket. Playing his first show at age 16 set the stage for what was to become over the next 35 years.
Some of Nudie’s influences include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Robert Johnson. Nudie has played in multiple bands over the years including Dark Lot, Desolation, Stronghold, Din, Booker Brothers, Bonobo Unspoken, Dirty Bob, Platinum Theater, Blueszillon, TNT, and Licketty Split. He also had the pleasure to open for Ted Nugent, Buckcherry, Cadillac Three, Eric Church and KC and The Sunshine Band. Nudie was able to perform at the Roof Garden with Andy and The Decades and in the All-Star Band during Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s 2015 Induction Spectacular, but is looking forward to sharing the stage this year as a part of his induction into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.
Currently, Nudie plays with Andy and The Decades, Harrison Lane, and The Occasional Cornfield - it certainly doesn’t look like Nudie will be slowing down anytime soon. His passion has recently taken him to the educational side of music serving as a drum instructor at Musicians Pro Shop in Burlington. Nudie loves fishing, hunting, and taking time to enjoy the small details that make everyone so important. He is a devoted family man who loves God, his country, and his family. Nudie’s grateful for his loving wife standing by him all the way, his four kids, two grandkids, and everyone who has put up with him playing music all the time. You can probably imagine how Nudie got his name, but today he’s usually seen with clothes on! Duane “Nudie” Binder is genuinely representative of Iowa’s great rock ‘n roll musicians. Congratulations Nudie!
