2018 - Individual Artist

Rick Hillyard’s career in music started shortly after his three- year commitment to the U.S. Army in the early 1970s.


His very first band was Ashes to Ashes with last years Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee John (JR) Rogers. Rick is currently playing with another of last year’s inductees Dan Sullivan. Both were inducted with High Heel & the Sneakers.


Rick engineered and recorded the latest CD entitled ‘Stuff’ in 2015 for Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee George McGargill. George and Rick currently have another CD in production.


Hillyard’s music career has spanned over 40 years playing with several different projects mostly in southwest Iowa. He says he feels privileged to have done sound production for several blues projects traveling through the southwest Iowa corridor. He also is booking acts for several venues in southwest Iowa including national acts such as Shemika Copeland, Hamilton Loomis, Trampled Under Foot, Hector Anchondo, and more.
