Last month Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association announced they would be launching a capital campaign to help fund a new museum in Arnolds Park Amusement Park that would allow visitors to see the evolution of rock 'n roll music on multiple platforms, learn about the individuals who have been instrumental in defining what Iowa music sounds like, inspire new artists to engage in music, and understand the role Iowa played on the national stage.
Shortly after that announcement, Bill Carpenter from The Castels reached out to Cindy Stanbro at Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association to let her know that members of The Castels would like to put their individual donations together to be a part of the campaign. “I wanted to challenge others to do the same,” said Bill Carpenter. “It’s pretty cool what Bill and The Castels are doing,” said Cindy Stanbro. “And by showing others that it’s possible to pool donations together to make a difference and be a part of this campaign, it’s pretty darn inspiring…and humbling. They care so much.”
With the “box” currently being built by Steffes Companies, progress is moving forward quickly. “The Park tells us they are on schedule to hand over the building to us in March. After that, it’s up to us to renovate the inside and create an amazing new museum,” says Stanbro. The new space will be almost three times the size of the current space and will include a recording studio, instrument play area, indoor and outdoor stages, inspiration stations, Iowa band features, Hall of Fame wall, interactive exhibits for youth, a listening station, a radio booth, and much more!
