Annual Celebration of Southeast Iowa Inductees Honors the Late Mad Hatter

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association and Regional Consultants Diane Sanders and Dennis Duke announce the annual celebration of Southeast Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. Rock the Radio, sponsored by Millard’s, F&M Bank & Trust, Two Rivers Bank and Trust, Millwright Service, Inc., Musicians Pro Shop, Bickel’s, W.W. Transport, Sherwood Co, Prugh-Thielen, Sherwood Company, Prall Insurance, Ideal Ready Mix, Coors Light, Pzazz Entertainment Complex, and The Hawkeye, will take place at the Pzazz Entertainment Complex in Burlington on Saturday April 21st from 7:30-10:30 pm.

 

Rock the Radio will celebrate Duane Binder and Gary Richards’ upcoming induction into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and honor the late Mad Hatter. The concert and dance will feature performances by Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50’s and Andy Avery and the Decades. Local radio personalities Steve Hexom and Mikey J. will Emcee the event and all proceeds will go to support the mission of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association. Binder and Richards’ official induction into the 2018 Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame will take place in Arnolds Park September 1st and 2nd.

 

A member of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association and Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Class of 2001, Darryl Hensley, known by most as "The Mad Hatter", will be honored at Rock the Radio on April 21st. Hatter, the legendary radio personality best known for hosting the “Mad Hatter Morning Show”, spearheaded the Buddy Holly Memorial Concert (aka Winter Dance Party) at the Surf Ballroom in 1979 and helped found three rock ‘n roll FM stations. Hatter tragically died after colliding with a car while riding his bike September 27, 2017.

 

Tickets for Rock the Radio are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and available at Catfish Bend Casino. VIP seating for a table of eight is available by calling 319-750-2499. Doors will open at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 7:30 pm.
