Pampering With A Purpose

May is national Teen Self-Esteem month. Designed to focus attention on the importance of teens having a healthy outlook of themselves and creating ways to support them in that development, organizations nationwide are encouraged to host programs and events to engage parents, educators, and most importantly youth giving them an opportunity to build their confidence, share their perspective and vocalize their needs. Pampering With A Purpose is being produced as a part of Teen Self-Esteem month and will take place May 24th from 5:30-6:30 pm at Pearson Lakes Art Center. Teen girls will enjoy free pampering and snacks while hearing positive encouragement from female professionals.

Pampering With A Purpose will take place right before Teen Music Association’s last event of the school year, Live Band Karaoke from 6:30-8 pm at Pearson Lakes Art Center. Live Band Karaoke is open to all 5th through 12th graders and will feature the band Rock a la Carte. Partnering with Pearson Lakes Art Center, Spirit Lake High School, and Okoboji Middle School, Teen Music Association has produced three events so far this year thanks to the support of Walmart, Hy-Vee, Northwest Bank, and Michael Thoreson Farm Bureau Financial Services.

Teen Music Association was created to connect to youth through music-focused activities and offer them opportunities to learn effective communication and self-expression skills through the arts outside of school. “We want to encourage a lifelong appreciation of music and provide opportunities for young people to be successful,” says Cindy Stanbro, Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Executive Director, “and involvement in music does just that.”

Girls are asked to RSVP to either Cindy Stanbro at 515-556-4297 or Lisa Duffy at 712-330-0338 for the Pampering With A Purpose event. No RSVP is needed for Live Band Karaoke.
