Rock 4 Vets Giving Back in Spirit Lake

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association and Spirit Lake VFW Post 4514 are working together to give back this Veterans Day by producing 'Rock 4 Vets" from 6-9 pm on November 10th at the VFW in Spirit Lake. Thanks to the generosity of Northwest Bank, Graham Construction, Fareway, MHR Insurance, Michael Thoreson Farm Bureau Financial Services, Bank Midwest, Lakes News Shopper, Central Bank, Dickinson County News, Hy-Vee, Steam Way Incorporated, and Exit Realty, all military and Veterans are invited to attend the live music event free of charge. Tickets are $10 at the door for everyone else.

Starting at 6 pm, the Spirit Lake VFW will provide a freewill donation meal. All military and Veterans eat free. Galaxy will kick off the live music and dancing starting at 7 pm. "Rock 4 Vets' will honor all military and Veterans during the event as well as provide resources from a representative from Dickinson County Veteran’s Affairs. Listening to live music has a universal positive impact on well-being and has been successfully used as therapy for years because it makes people happier, has an analgesic effect, and helps people feel connected – all of which are vital for mental health and longevity.

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is pleased to partner with Spirit Lake VFW to produce this event. “My husband is a disabled Veteran, so this project is near and dear to my heart. I’ve witnessed the power of music when it comes to therapy and it’s amazing. Being able to produce an event like this allows all active and retired military a special night to come together and be recognized. We produce events like this across the state to use the resources we have to provide a little music therapy for all our service men and women and say thank you.” said Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Executive Director Cindy Stanbro.

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is producing 'Rock 4 Vets" events across the state this November to give back to those who served or are serving and raise awareness of resources they may not be familiar with. Other event dates include Merrill on November 3rd, Dubuque on November 10th, Sioux City on November 11th, and Burlington on November 18th.

Established in 1997 as the first state rock ‘n roll music association, the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is a statewide 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve the legacy of rock ‘n roll music in Iowa by honoring achievements, educating youth, and inspiring artists.
