Rock 4 Vets Giving Back in Burlington

October 23, 2018

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association and Capitol Theater are working together to give back this Veterans Day by producing "Rock 4 Vets" from 3-6 pm on November 18th at the Capitol Theater in Burlington. Thanks to the generosity of Coors and Graham Construction, all military and Veterans are invited to attend the live music event free of charge. Tickets are $10 at the door for everyone else.

From 3 – 6 pm, Dixon Duo, StumpTown, and The Reunion will perform a variety of music from rock to country. Halfway through the event, representatives from Veteran’s Affairs will speak about their services and all military will be recognized. Listening to live music has a universal positive impact on well-being and has been successfully used as therapy for years because it makes people happier, has an analgesic effect, and helps people feel connected – all of which are vital for mental health and longevity.

Capitol Theater’s Executive Director Tammy McCoy is excited about this new event. "We are very pleased to have this opportunity to honor our Veterans while also supporting some of Iowa’s best musical talent. This promises to be a fantastic event!"

For some at Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association, this is personal. “My Grandfather won a Gold Star and Purple Heart while fighting on Omaha Beach in Normandy. My Uncle Frank did three tours of Vietnam as a part of Special Forces and has a training course named after him. My Great, Great, Great Grandfather fought for Iowa in the Union Army. Events such as this lets me use my talents to give back,” said Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Regional Consultant Gary Richards. The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is pleased to partner with Capitol Theater to produce this event.
