Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is teaming up with Catamount Recording again to offer youth across the state opportunities to show off their musical abilities in “Iowa Rocks Talent”. The competition for musicians 21 and under provides opportunities for professional development while encouraging participation in music outside of school.
“Last year’s expanded event welcomed 25 bands and individuals throughout four regional competitions and this year we’re expanding to Southwest Iowa to include a fifth competition,” says Cindy Stanbro, Executive Director of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association. “Music resonates with youth and gives them a voice so we wanted to make sure we had opportunities for them to express themselves wherever they live.”
Thanks to partnerships with Wabash Entertainment, Drake University, Pearson Lakes Art Center, and The Main Event and sponsors Walmart, John Walachy Music Legacy, and Midwest Piano & Music, regional events will take place across the state through June with winners advancing to “Iowa Rocks Talent Finals” in Arnolds Park Labor Day weekend.
Winners of “Iowa Rocks Talent Finals” receive recording time at Catamount Recording’s state-of-the-art professional recording studio in Cedar Falls and open for the 2019 Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Concert on September 1st.
