Steve Daly

2014 - Spirit Award

Steve Daly has been greeting fans and stamping hands at the Arnolds Park “Rock the Roof” concerts for years. His signature dew rags and upbeat attitude have been an asset to IRRMA’s volunteers since 2006.

Daly was born in the Lakes Area in 1952 and attended Spirit Lake Schools until transferring to Arnolds Park High School where he graduated in 1970.

In his junior year of high school, Daly was a regular at the Roof Garden, attending dance and concerts. He spent the summers working at the Okoboji Standard.

In 1975, Daly moved to Spencer and started a family. His volunteer duties all started because Paul Heilmen was working at the raffle table. Daly began helping during the “pass the drum” donation time at the IRRMA concerts. He has not missed a single Thursday night concert since.

After contributing as a member for a number of years, Daly became a Lifetime Member. His greatest reward is the thanks he receives for his involvement, “People come up  to you and thank you for being a volunteer. I hope I can continue being a volunteer for many years to come. After all, we are one big rock ‘n roll family and I love you all dearly and wish God to bless each and every one of you.”

Honoring achievements, educating youth, and inspiring artists.
