The Street Band started out in 1991 with a merging variety of band members from Hamilton and Wright
The first concert was to open up for the Original Flippers traveling a three-city tour. The Val Air in Des Moines, the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake and at Okoboji. with Blecker Productions.
Taking a first chance with the Street Band was Tom Blecker Productions from Des Moines. The Street Band became very unique as a show band in a very short period of time, playing at The Iowa State Fair, World Pork Expo, the Rockin Roll Party Band for The Iowa Barnstormers Arena Football Team and created an Iowa Barnstormer hit called “Barnstormin” for all tailgate parties at Veterans Auditorium for three years and county fairs across the Midwest.
The band became well know for music, entertainment and show talent. The Street Band moved quickly in Casinos all across the Midwest including Minnesota,North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Illionois and Iowa with their home based casino being Prairie Meadows in Des Moines.
Opening up for many talented and famous acts like The Buckinghams, Johnny Rivers, The Diamonds, The Grass Roots with Rob Grill, Three Dog Nite, The New Colony Six, Eric Burton and the Animals, Rare Earth, The Turtles and many more.
Street Band originated in 1991 and ended in 2004. During that time other band members played with The Street Band including John Hemingway the original bass player; Neil Ogg, drums; Brad Larson, drums; Tom Osboe, keyboards; LaDee Piner on Trumpet, sax and keyboard.
The Street Band became one of Iowa’s most requested bands during that time because of the band’s talent, comedy and audience participation.
