2018 - Band
Members: Jason Walsmith, Mike Butterworth, Brian Duffey, Brandon Stone, Neil Stoffregen
The Nadas formed while attending college at Iowa State University in 1993. By 1996 the band had gone full time when Jason Wallsmith graduated, and Mike Butterworth had dropped out to pursue a career in music. They’ve played coast to coast in all four corners of the country; from Portland, Maine, San Diego, CA, Bellingham, Washington, to the Florida Keys - they’ve even played in Canada and Mexico. In the late ‘90s through the mid-2000s The Nadas performed at least 200 to 250 shows a year; today they perform anywhere from 50 to 60.
In 2001 The Nadas was named “the best college band you have never heard of” in a six-page article in Playboy Magazine. They’ve played the Viper Room and the Mint in Los Angeles, California as wells as CBGBs in New York City, New York. Through their numerous years of touring, they have been through nine vans, 5 RVs and one bus that once belonged to the artist Meatloaf.
The Nadas have played with national acts such as The Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, America, The Guess Who, REO Speedwagon, Simon Estes, Huey Lewis, and many other notable artists. During their careers they’ve released 12 studio records, having just finished their 13th; among those recordings includes four live records and two full-length DVDs. They’ve been featured on many shows on both Iowa Public Television and Iowa Public Radio, and have won a regional Emmy for the soundtrack of a documentary about Girls 6 on 6 basketball.
In March of 2016, The Nadas released their album "ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)," a greatest hits album featuring 20 fan favorites and one new track.
