(Arnolds Park, IA) - The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has recently voted to add Brian Kohlwes to its Board of Directors. Brian is married to his wife Morgan, and they currently reside in Dubuque, Iowa

Brian and Morgan enjoy their motorcycle and their weekend home on East Lake Okoboji, Iowa, and spending much of the time boating and enjoying the Iowa Great Lakes. In 2015 he relocated to Dubuque, Iowa for a career opportunity with Hirschbach Motor Lines. Hirschbach is the second largest refrigerated truckload carrier in the US and has approximately 2500 trucks. Brian serves as Hirschbach’s General Counsel & Chief Risk Officer where he is responsible for the following departments: legal, claims, safety, DOT compliance, insurance and risk. Brian holds a small minority share of ownership in the company as well. Brian also sits on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Iowa Motor Truck Association (IMTA) which represents trucking interests. Brian is slated to be Chairman of the Board in 2026-2027 of IMTA.

Brian is also a musician and got his musical start in high school. His passion is playing bass guitar and making music. Brian joined The Sons of Gladys Kravitz in 2002 which was made up of veteran members of the Central Iowa music scene. Sons of Gladys Kravitz were admitted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Class of 2025, with Brian inducted as a member of the group.

Brian stated: “What an honor and a privilege it is to represent Dubuque and Eastern Iowa in joining this board. I truly look forward to working alongside this wonderful team filled with individuals of diverse backgrounds to advance the associations’ values of honoring achievements, educating youth and inspiring artists. ”

Ted Poulsen, the President of the association stated, “I am glad to see the addition of Brian Kohlwes to our Board of Directors. Brian brings significant skills and vision to helping build on the mission at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association.”
